NIRMALA BHAVAN POLAVARAM
As Franciscans are essentially missionaries in character, Kanjirapally province started its mission in Andhra Pradesh. Sisters who were interested were sent to the mission. It was His Excellency, Bishop John Mulagada of Eluru Diocese, invited us to the Tribal Area of Polavaram in West Godavary district through Rev.Father Manuel OFM cap. Thus we started our first mission station in the jungle area of Polavaram on 1st February 1981. It was a virgin soil and the sisters worked with Fr. Manual OFM cap and started an English medium school mainly for the tribal children. Sisters took interest in the newly formed parish, school, dispensary and social work. We are also running two hostels for these tribal students. The pioneers were Late Rev.Sr.Elsis, Sr.Annuncia and Sr.Pius Maria
