HISTORY
OF THE FCC SAN THOM PROVINCE, ELURU
After the bifurcation from Changanacherry,
the newly formed Kanjirapally
Province started mission in Andhra Pradesh on first February 1981. At the
request of His Excellency, Rt. Rev. John Mulagada Bishop of Eluru the superiors
sent four sisters to Polavaram in the tribal agency area of West Godavari
District. The other convents are at Irusumanda in 1989, and at Madhurawada in
1993. In the year 1995, it was formed as a mission, with these three houses. The
Mission raised into a Region in 2002. There were 39 members opted for the
Region, with five convents. Rev. Sr.
Elsis was the first Regional Superior who passed away on 10th
September 2007.
The
first Synaxis which was held on 3rd March 2013 elected Rev. Sr.
Celine Maria as the first Provincial Superior. The Inauguration of the San Thom
Province, Eluru took place on fourth March 2013,with 51 members,10 convents.
